Cannabinoids

Synthetic cannabinoids are a class of designer drugs that mimic the effects of naturally occurring cannabinoids found in the marijuana plant, such as delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). These compounds have been chemically manipulated to bind the same cannabinoid receptors in the brain that THC does, producing similar psychoactive effects. Synthetic cannabinoids are more potent, have unpredictable effects, and can be more dangerous than natural cannabis.

Synthetic cannabinoids, also known as “synthetic pot,” “Spice,” or “K2”, are usually sold in colorful small packets or as herbal smoking mixtures. These liquids are either sprayed on plant material or sold in small packets. These products, which are sometimes labeled “not for human use” or “incense,” are used primarily for recreational drug usage.
