Arylcyclohexylamines

Arylcyclohexylamines belong to a group of psychoactive substances with dissociative and anesthetic effects. These compounds are composed of an aryl moiety (a six-membered ring containing an amine group) and an aryl group. Arylcyclohexylamines primarily act as NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) receptor antagonists in the brain, which leads to their dissociative effects, characterized by a disconnection between the user’s thoughts, perceptions, and sense of self.
